India Releases Country's Oldest Inmate: 108-Year-Old Hindu Priest

"Prison authorities in India have released the country`s oldest inmate, 108-year-old Brij Bihari Pandey, who was convicted of a murder he committed at the age of 84, officials said Saturday.

?

Pandey, a Hindu priest, was freed on Friday by a court in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on humanitarian grounds as prison officials were finding it difficult to provide regular medical treatment to the `oldest prisoner in the history of Indian prisons.`"

?

Pandey is bed-ridden, and the sad truth is that the 108-year-old murderer is a prisoner of his own wasted body.?

?

The compassionate thing to do is not to set him free, but to put him to sleep. The Hindu priest is a disgrace to his religion, and a burden on society. It`s not like a nation of over a billion souls is going to miss him.?

?

Pandey can`t blame his crime on youthful indiscretion, he was 84 when he killed four people over the inheritance of a Hindu religious institution.

?

If there`s any truth to the Hindu religion, Pandey will be reincarnated as a cockroach.
