Surviving Motherhood with a Toddler and a Newborn Baby ...

When my daughter was 7 months, I found out I was pregnant again. What a pleasant surprise, yet a little shocking as well. I was happy of course, as a new baby is always a joy, but I was also extremely worried at the thought of managing two children so close in age.

When my boy was born my daughter was 15 months. She was too young to understand that her brother was not a doll and was fragile. If I would leave my baby in a bouncer or in a bassinet, she would try to lie on him and touch him roughly. This meant I needed to always remain very close to the two of them, therefore I could not get much housework done, which was very frustrating.

My mom saved the day by giving me a baby wrap carrier. After watching a demo video of how to use it I tried it on and put my newborn in. My baby boy loved it immediately, and he was so amazingly calm and peaceful in the wrap. My daughter was happy because, while I was babywearing her baby brother, I could play with her. They were still close to one another, but in a much safer way.

And me? I enjoyed my feedoom to do all I needed to do: housework, spending time on my computer, preparing food, etc.
